The issues that will be on the Agenda that night that directly affect Port Washington:

3. A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER THE ADOPTION OF AN ORDINANCE AFFECTING MOREWOOD OAKS AND THE MANORHAVEN SCHOOL IN PORT WASHINGTON.
Synopsis: The adoption of this ordinance will establish a School Speed Zone for the Manorhaven School, east and westbound on Morewood Oaks, and establish a Full Stop for northbound traffic egressing the school's most easterly parking lot onto Morewood Oaks.
4. A RESOLUTION SETTING A DATE FOR A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER THE ADOPTION OF A LOCAL LAW AMENDING CHAPTER 38 OF THE TOWN CODE OF THE TOWN OF NORTH HEMPSTEAD ENTITLED "NOISE".
Synopsis: The purpose of the proposed local law is to restrict the use of gas-powered leaf blowers. Tentative hearing date is September 7, 2017.
5. A RESOLUTION SETTING A DATE FOR A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER THE ADOPTION OF A LOCAL LAW AMENDING CHAPTER 24 OF THE TOWN CODE OF THE TOWN OF NORTH HEMPSTEAD ENTITLED "GOVERNMENTAL OPERATIONS."
Synopsis: The purpose of the proposed local law is to codify the Town's requirement that, with respect to certain Town construction contracts, contractors and subcontractors shall have in place apprenticeship training agreements appropriate for the type and scope of work to be performed and must demonstrate that the apprenticeship programs used on these projects have graduated apprentices.  Tentative hearing date is September 7, 2017.
6. A RESOLUTION SETTING A DATE FOR A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER THE ADOPTION OF A LOCAL LAW AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE TOWN CODE OF THE TOWN OF NORTH HEMPSTEAD ENTITLED "ADMINISTRATION AND ENFORCEMENT."

Synopsis: The purpose of the proposed local law is to require applicants for building permits for large commercial projects to demonstrate that apprenticeship programs used by contractors or subcontractors on these projects have graduated apprentices. Tentative hearing date is September 7, 2017.

 

9. A RESOLUTION SETTING A DATE FOR A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER THE  ADOPTION OF AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A RESERVED PARKING SPACE ON ORCHARD STREET IN PORT WASHINGTON.
Synopsis: The adoption of this ordinance will establish a reserved parking space on the west side of Orchard Street, south of Park Avenue, in  Port Washington. Tentative hearing date is September 7, 2017.

A RESOLUTION SETTING A DATE FOR A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER THE ADOPTION OF A LOCAL LAW ESTABLISHING CHAPTER 68 OF THE TOWN CODE OF THE TOWN OF NORTH HEMPSTEAD ENTITLED “SINGLE-USE CARRYOUT BAG REDUCTION”

 

Synopsis: The purpose of the local law is to reduce the negative environmental and financial impacts related to single-use carryout bags in the Town by promoting the use of reusable carryout bags through the imposition of a minimum carryout bag fee on non-exempt customers (per carryout bag) at the point of sale in order to incentivize customers to bring their own reusable carryout bags.  Tentative hearing date is September 26, 2017.

Synopsis: The adoption of this local law would establish restrictions prohibiting the use of all-terrain vehicles on Town property. Public hearing continued from April 4, 2017 Town Board Meeting.

Synopsis: The adoption of this ordinance will establish a Reserved Parking space, Permit Required, on the south side of Webster Avenue, east of S. Washington Street, in Port Washington.
7. A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER THE RESCISSION AND ADOPTION OF AN ORDINANCE AFFECTING WILLOWDALE AVENUE IN PORT WASHINGTON.

Synopsis: The adoption of this ordinance will establish a No Left Turn restriction for traffic southbound on the Plandome Road Spur, prohibiting drivers from turning left onto Colonial Parkway, eastbound, in Manhasset.

Synopsis: The rescission and adoption of this ordinance will remove the presently installed parking meters and establish Three Hour parking restrictions on the north side of Ohio Avenue in Port Washington.
