Supervisor Bosworth Announces 9th Annual EcoFest Celebration

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board announced that the 9th Annual EcoFest will be held on Saturday, April 26th and Sunday, April 27th from 11:00am to 5:00pm at Clark Botanic Garden in Albertson.

EcoFest is an annual, interactive environmental event that features crafts, lawn games, musical performances, and family fun events. With thousands of attendees each year, this free two-day festival is the culmination of the Town’s month-long focus on environmental education.

“North Hempstead is proud to have the beautiful Clark Botanic Garden in our own backyard,” said Supervisor Bosworth. “This wonderful facility serves as an educational resource for our residents and especially our youth. EcoFest is a wonderful way to combine fun activities with environmental awareness.”

Crowd favorite, Erik’s Reptiles Edventures, will return to teach attendees about wildlife and will have live creatures on hand. The Red Storm Drum and Dance Troupe will have interactive storytelling and workshops.

“EcoFest is such a fun family event that I have attended with my own children in the past,” Councilman Peter Zuckerman said. “I am so proud to attend this for the first time as Councilman of the 2nd District.”

This year’s EcoFest will feature Volunteers for Wildlife who will provide fascinating tidbits about Long Island’s wildlife. Bash the Trash will give musical performances using instruments constructed from recycled and reused materials. The Long Island Children’s and Science Museums will also deliver entertaining and informational presentations.

The Central Park Zoo, Barry G. and Green Meadow Farms will also be in attendance for the festival.

Clark Botanic Garden, North Hempstead’s living museum, educational facility, and bird sanctuary, is located at 193 I.U. Willets Road in Albertson. The 12-acres of lush greens, gardens, tree, ponds and streams offer enjoyment for residents of all ages.
