Supervisor Bosworth and Councilman Zuckerman Announce Allen Street Drainage Project is Underway

North Hempstead, NY – Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Town Councilman Peter Zuckerman are proud to announce that a drainage improvement project is underway on Allen and Brian streets in New Hyde Park that will help alleviate the flooding issues that have plagued that neighborhood for years.

Supervisor Bosworth’s involvement with this project goes back to her days as a Nassau County Legislator, when she communicated with the residents and worked with both the County and the Town to try to solve the perpetual flooding problem in this neighborhood.

“The people of Allen and Brian streets shouldn’t have to fear rainy days anymore,” said the Supervisor. “I am very pleased that the Town is able to start this much-needed drainage improvement project that will alleviate flooding in this neighborhood.”

“Relieving these residents of the flooding issues here in New Hyde Park will improve their quality of life,” said Councilman Zuckerman. “I am glad that we were able to respond and get this project in motion.” The Town is installing a new storm water drainage pipe and a new water main; restoring a drainage trench in the roadway on Allen Street and also completing curb restoration work.

This $293,000 project was included in the first year of the Town's Five Year Capital Plan that was recently approved by the Town Board.
