Boat Moorings Still Available at Town Dock

Port Washington, NY – Supervisor Jon Kaiman, Councilman Fred L. Pollack, and North Hempstead’s Department of Parks and Recreation are reminding boaters that 20 moorings are still available at the Town Dock this season.The mooring season is April 15th - November 1st and 20 spots are still available: 8 spots for sail boats, and 12 spots for power boats.

“The Town Dock is a wonderful resource,” said Supervisor Kaiman.“It provides residents with an opportunity to walk the shoreline, moor their boats, and fish from the pier.’

Manhasset Bay provides an extraordinary boating opportunity. The Town mooring field is offered at very reasonable rates in order to make the Bay available to all residents,” Councilman Pollack stated.

For registration information please call (516) 327-3110.New applicants must complete the application and mail it back to the Department of Parks and Recreation with a copy of their driver's license, copy of their boat registration, and payment of $135.00. Once the information is verified the applicant is sent a permit in the mail indicating their mooring location. All boats and ground tackle must be removed from the water by November 1. Mooring spots are for North Hempstead residents only and are NOT transferable. Please note that the Town accepts applications for boats 25' and under only.

The Town Dock is located on Main Street in Port Washington and is equipped with a pump out station.The Town Dock also serves as the Harbor Patrol Headquarters. For information regarding the Harbor Patrol please call (516) 767-4622.
