Town of North Hempstead to Host “The Business of Art” Exhibit and Seminar

North Hempstead, NY
– The Town of North Hempstead’s Business and Tourism Development Corporation (BTDC) announced it will host “The Business of Art – Round 2”, a free seminar and art exhibition focusing on funding sources for artists, nonprofits and entrepreneurs.

The seminar and exhibit will be held Friday, October 25th from 8:30-10:30AM at the “Yes We Can” Community Center at 141 Garden Street, Westbury.

Town Councilwoman Viviana Russell, who will be moderating the program, has already taken an integral role in bringing the arts to New Cassel, such as the recent implementation of “Arts Build” which includes life-like sculptures placed throughout downtown New Cassel.

“It is important that we use art to stimulate economic growth within our community, and across the entire Town,” said Councilwoman Russell. “Partnering with the BTDC and the LIDC to create this event enables us to help provide residents and businesses alike with a wealth of knowledge from industry professionals.”

Scheduled speakers for the event include: Lisa Robb, Executive Director of the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), Peter Cobb, Program Officer, The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), and Roz Goldmacher, President/CEO, Long Island Development Corp (LIDC).

The art exhibition component will feature the work of Robert Carter, Emmett Wigglesworth and Mario Tucci. Pieces from these artists will be on display at North Hempstead’s “Yes We Can” Community Center.

Town of North Hempstead, ArtsBuild New Cassel, BTDC, Art League of Long Island and LIDC/LISBAC will be sponsoring the event.

Registration is required. Please call 516-433-5000 or register online at: www.btdc.biz/Onlineregistration.asp.
