Town Partnering with Samba 360 to Offer Free Chess and Soccer this Summer

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board are pleased to announce that the Town is partnering with Samba 360 to hold a FREE soccer and chess program this summer at Martin “Bunky” Reid Park and the “Yes We Can” Community Center in Westbury.

The two-week program is open to children ages 8 to 11 and will be held from July 25 to August 5. Registration will include a uniform, soccer ball, chessboard and lunch for each child. Participants can elect to do both the soccer and chess clinics or choose just one of them. Both clinics will be taught by certified instructors.

The program will begin with soccer at Martin “Bunky” Reid Park in Westbury from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch across the street at the “Yes We Can” Community Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and chess at the “Yes We Can” from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Samba 360 is a not-for-profit organization that provides relief to disadvantaged children, both domestically and abroad, through the collection of donated sporting and other recreational equipment. The organization was founded by Shawn Brown, the acting Public Safety Commissioner for the Town. For more information on the organization, visit: www.samba360.org.
