Announce the Women’s History Breakfast of 2007

Manhasset, N.Y. – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Town Clerk Michelle Schimel announced today that the 14th Annual May W. Newburger Women’s Roll of Honor Breakfast will be held on Thursday, March 22, from 8:00 am to 10:00 am at Clinton G. Martin Park in New Hyde Park.

The Town will be receiving nominations for the 2007 Women’s Roll of Honor through Friday, February 16, 2007.

Town Clerk Michelle Schimel, the event chairperson, cites Susan B. Anthony as the inspiration for this year’s event. She recalls Ms. Anthony’s words, “For a people is only as great, as free, as lofty, as advanced as its women are free, noble and progressive.”

“The women of North Hempstead are all that and more,” said Ms. Schimel in an enthusiastic endorsement of Ms. Anthony’s words. “Once again we will celebrate extraordinary women whose commitment to North Hempstead has made it a more wonderful place.”

“I am pleased to announce that we will be adding another group of outstanding North Hempstead women to our Women’s Role of Honor,” said Supervisor Kaiman. “I invite all Town residents to help us honor the women who have made a continuing difference in the Town by submitting their names to the nominating committee.”

Since 1994, North Hempstead has held a Women’s History Month Breakfast to honor women who have made a contribution to their community, possess a special personal talent, or have accomplished a significant achievement through public or quiet work.

Anyone interested in submitting a name for consideration should log-on to the Town’s website at www.northhempsteadny.gov and download the nomination form or pick one up at the Supervisor’s Office or the Office of the Town Clerk on Plandome Road.
