Everybody in the Pool!

Newly Renovated CGM Pool Re-Opening June 30

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Council Members Peter Zuckerman, Angelo Ferrara and Lee Seeman are thrilled to announce that the newly renovated, state-of-the-art Clinton G. Martin pool and tennis courts in New Hyde Park will open on June 30, with a tremendous kick-off and ribbon-cutting celebration, as the 2018 pool season gets underway.
New Hyde Park Special Park District residents will be able to use the pool for NO FEE on June 30, with early bird registration extended until July 6 due to the late opening this season.

“The re-opening of the CGM pool is certainly cause for celebration here in the New Hyde Park Special Park District and we are pulling out all the stops,” said Supervisor Bosworth. “The Town, together with the residents of the Park District, will be kicking off the pool season with a ribbon cutting ceremony, music and free giveaways for our new pool. We are elated that the newly-renovated pool is completed in time for the 2018 summer season. I believe that the residents of the park district will be very pleased with their new facility.”

The pool has been under renovation for the past year and was closed for the 2017 season. The pool was first constructed over 50 years ago and was last renovated in the 1980’s.

The $23 million project was completed by the Gramercy Group, with The LIRO Group serving as the construction manager. The new renovation included replacing the infrastructure of the pool and its internal components (pumps filters, etc.) and the renovation of the locker rooms. The new design includes more shaded areas, a new kiddie pool, a water slide, spray pad, new pavement, a recreation room and new pickle ball and tennis courts.

“We are all so excited for the opening of this beautiful pool park facility that will be a fixture in the community for generations to come,” said Council Member Peter Zuckerman

“Our residents are looking forward to getting more than their feet wet in the new CGM pool,” said Council Member Ferrara. “I am looking forward to celebrate the grand opening of the CGM pool, this summer with Supervisor Bosworth and my fellow board members.”

“We are excited that the residents will be able to enjoy the pool and all its amenities this summer,” said Council Member Lee Seeman. “I am proud to be joining with Supervisor Bosworth and the Town Board to celebrate the grand opening this summer.”

Throughout the planning and design phases of the project the Town worked closely with the New Hyde Park Special Park District Advisory Committee and engaged residents to hear about what features they wanted to see in the modernized pool.

“All of the residents who live in the Park District, who pay a designated tax for the pool, are shareholders in this pool and like shareholders in a company and they had a big say,” said Supervisor Bosworth.

“Members of the Clinton G. Martin Park and Pool District eagerly await the grand opening of our newly renovated pool and tennis courts. How exciting will it be to have an added recreational room, completely updated locker rooms for men and women, reconfigured tennis and pickle ball courts, a splash pad and a slide included in the remodeling,” said Marianna Wohlgemuth, New Hyde Park Special Park District Advisory Committee Member. “This facility will be ideal for families and seniors alike. With the diligent oversight of the Town of North Hempstead and Supervisor Bosworth, we will have a pool we can all enjoy and be proud of.”

This pool season the Town is offering a new “Five-Pass” in addition to the usual options. This new “Five-Pass” membership option ($60) allows residents to use the facility five times a season without a full membership. This pass can be purchased once per season, per resident. It cannot be used by guests.
