Bosworth & Kaplan Announce Agreement with Manhasset Parking District

Agreement paved the way for Manhasset Park District to reconfigure parking lot and add 17 spots

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Town Council Member Anna Kaplan are pleased to announce that an agreement with the Manhasset Park District has resulted in the reconfiguration of the Manhasset Park District (MPD) lot #3 in Manhasset. The reconfiguration adds 17 new commuter parking spots to the lot by creating curb cuts between the lot on the west side of Mary Jane Davies Green and lot #3.

“I am pleased we were able to partner with the Manhasset Park District to enhance parking options for residents of Manhasset. By working together we were able to utilize existing space to offer more spots as a convenience to Manhasset residents,” said Supervisor Bosworth.

“It is always a priority to find innovative ways to increase parking options to both decrease congestion and offer more options for our Manhasset residents,” Said Council Member Kaplan. “This reconstruction of the lot has done just that.”

“While we knew a lot #3 reconfiguration was possible to add additional spaces and have had the plans in place for some time we could not have achieved it without access to the Mary Jane Davies roadway,” said Manhasset Park District Commissioner David Paterson. The Manhasset Park District was very pleased to have worked out this agreement with the Town,” Paterson also added “The price of the curb cuts and re lining of spaces was nominal and set aside in our 2018 budget.”

Lot #3 is available to MPD residents with a current Manhasset Park District Permit. For more information on purchasing a permit visit: www.manhassetparkdistrict.org/application

This agreement is just one of the things the Town has been doing to increase parking availability in Manhasset. Last year, the Town Board approved a resolution to designate 12 Town of North Hempstead parking spots in Manhasset adjacent to Mary Jane Davies Park for shoppers and park visitors to be used for up to 120 minutes at no cost. The parking lot located on the west side of the park currently has 20 spots; seven are leased out to Manhasset businesses for employee parking.
