Councilman Ferrara to hold community meeting

Proposal to redo Merillon area parking regulations

North Hempstead Councilman Angelo P. Ferrara has announced that they will be holding a community meeting on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at 7:30PM in Clinton G. Martin Park. The topic will be the proposed changes to the parking regulations near the Merillon Avenue train station in Garden City Park.

“Over a year ago, the Town of North Hempstead put a moratorium in place for on-street parking while we re-evaluated the parking restrictions near the train station,” said Councilman Ferrara. “The town has sent out surveys to the residents and I walked door-to-door to get input from the residents. It is now our time to make a pitch to the local residents to appease as many of them as possible.”

The streets that will be affected by these potential changes are Atlantic Avenue (between Nassau Boulevard and 5 th Street), Fulton Avenue (between Nassau Boulevard and 5 th Street), Broadway (between Nassau Boulevard and 5 th Street), Park Avenue (between Nassau Boulevard and 5 th Street), Bedford Avenue (between Hilton Avenue and Nassau Boulevard), as well as the entire stretch of Corbin Avenue, Hilton Avenue, and Norton Avenue.

All residents of those streets and in the general vicinity are invited to attend.

“If any one has any questions regarding this meeting, please call my office at 516-869-7775 or email me directly at FerraraA@northhempsteadny.gov,” concluded Councilman Ferrara.
