Let’s Share the Warmth
Clerk Leslie Gross Calls
for Coats

Manhasset, NY Winter feels like it has arrived early this year and unless we act quickly, some of us will be a lot colder than others.  With that in mind, North Hempstead is again participating in the NCA Coats for Kids program that will put your gently-used outerwear on the kids and adults who really need them this winter. (Despite its title, this is a collection of coats for kids and adults.)

“Our community’s support of this project has made a significant difference,” said Town Clerk Leslie Gross, referring to the more than 500 coats donated by North Hempstead residents last year.  “This program has become a hallmark of the generosity of our residents,” added Supervisor Jon Kaiman.

As you browse through your closets for potential donations, we suggest you follow this formula: “If you haven’t worn it in the last three years, chances are you won’t - so please think about donating it!” said Ms. Gross.

·         Town Hall/ 220 Plandome Road (9:00 am to 4:45 pm)

·         Town Clerk’s Office/ 200 Plandome Road (9:00 am to 4:45 pm)

·         Clark Botanic Garden/ 193 I.U. Willets Road
(10:00 am to 3:00 pm, 7 days a week beginning November 2)

·         Clinton G. Martin Park/ Marcus Avenue and New Hyde Park Road
(10:00 am to 4:00 pm weekdays)

·         Port Washington Senior Center/ 80 Manorhaven Blvd., Port Washington
(8:00 am to 3:45 pm weekdays)

Our coat drive continues through December 15.   Remember, those unused coats can do a lot more than warm your closets.  In fact, donating them will probably bring warmth to you as well as the new owners.
