North Hempstead Town Clerk Attains Credentials as Certified Municipal Clerk

North Hempstead, NY-- North Hempstead Town Clerk Leslie C. Gross announced today that she has achieved accreditation as a Certified Municipal Clerk, enhancing her capabilities to better serve constituents.

“I take my hat off to Leslie for earning this accreditation, said Supervisor Jon Kaiman. “She is dedicated to her profession and serves this Town well.”

Gross completed the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) approved 120-hour Municipal Clerk Academy program between 2007 and 2010. As well as having solid experience, accreditation required her to complete further coursework to satisfy the number of points required for the award. Gross is now working toward achieving the Master Municipal Clerk designation.

“Lifelong learning is not only desirable but necessary for those who serve in local government to keep pace with the growing demand and changing needs of the citizens we serve,” Gross said.

Leslie Gross became Town Clerk for the Town of North Hempstead in April, 2007. Prior to that, she was the Executive Director of the Town of North Hempstead’s Business and Tourism Development Corp.

IIMC’s primary goal is to actively promote the continuing education and professional development of Municipal Clerks through extensive education programs, certification, publications, networking, annual conferences and research. As an educational catalyst, IIMC inspires Clerks to expand and advance beyond their present levels of development.
