Keeping it Green, North Hempstead Hosts ’11 EcoFest This Weekend

Albertson, NY—Supervisor Jon Kaiman extends an invitation for residents to join him at the Town of North Hempstead’s public garden for the 6th Annual EcoFest.

The free two-day interactive and educational event at Clark Botanic Garden in Albertson will take place Saturday and Sunday May 14th and 15th from 10:00am to 5:00 pm.

EcoFest, an event designed to give all ages an opportunity to celebrate the environment, will feature a host of fun activities and performances.

Guitarist Chris Marshak, accompanied by his brother Matt on drums, will present “Strumming and Drumming,” their unique brand of skits, stories and refreshingly catchy songs for kids.

In addition to crafts and games, Volunteers for Wildlife and Erik’s Reptile Edventures will wow onlookers with their eye-opening wildlife showcase. The Red Storm Drum and Dance Troupe will present interactive storytelling and workshops.

The event will also feature face-painting, lawn games, presentations by the Long Island Children’s Museum, the Long Island Science Museum, tabling by local environmental organizations and much more.

Clark Botanic Garden, North Hempstead’s living museum, educational facility and bird sanctuary, is located at 193 I.U. Willets Road.
