Town of North Hempstead to Host Second Annual Asian American Festival

North Hempstead, NY In celebration of North Hempstead’s growing ethnic diversity, Supervisor Jon Kaiman and the Town Board proudly announce the Town’s second annual Asian American Festival, a beach-front gala of food, folk art and performance from Japan India, China, Korea and Pakistan.

The May 21 festival will be held at North Hempstead Beach Park, the Town’s 60-acre beachfront playground on West Shore Road in Port Washington. It runs from noon to 6 pm.

“As North Hempstead’s cultural landscape grows increasingly diverse, I believe this is a perfect opportunity to experience some of our neighbors’ social mainstays and practices,” said Supervisor Kaiman. “I look forward to an extraordinary event, full of performance, food and culture.”

Featuring performances and folk art such as Japanese Taiko Drumming, traditional Chinese lion dancers, Indian henna tattooing and a Korean Hanbok fashion show, the festival will also showcases a mélange of culinary delights indigenous to Asian cultures from across the globe.
