Pot holes may be reported to 311 or 516-869-6311 for inspection and repair.

Drainage

The Highway Division maintains storm water catch basins, pipe systems and recharge basins. Problems with catch basins or flooding problems on Town roadways may be reported at 311 or 516-869-6311 .

Recharge basins (Sumps) are either maintained by Nassau County or the Town; at the gate to each sump there is a sign regarding ownership and a basin number. If you wish to call to report a problem with a recharge basin please have the location and number available. Problems with Nassau County Basins other County storm water issues may be reported to 516- 571-8700.

Traffic Signs

The Highway Sign Shop installs and maintains traffic control signs, including parking signs and street name signs throughout the Town.

Reports of missing or damaged signs may be made to 311 or 516-869-6311 .

Requests for new traffic control signs or parking signs may be directed to the Town Board .

Traffic Signals fall under the jurisdiction of Nassau County Department of Public Works, 516-571- 0465.

Street Trees

The Highway Tree Crew will inspect street trees (in the Town right-of-way).

Problematic trees may be reported to 311 or 516-869-6311.

Residents are responsible for the removal of leaves behind the curb. Leaves should be bagged and prepared for pick-up according to the area sanitation schedule. For information regarding carters and pick-up schedules please contact the Solid Waste Management Authority . Please remember that leaves should never be raked into the roadways.
