Supervisor Bosworth Moves Public Comment to Start of North Hempstead Town Board Meetings

North Hempstead, NY –Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the North Hempstead Town Board are dedicated to increasing transparency in local government. In keeping with that commitment, Supervisor Bosworth has announced that the public comment portion of each Town Board meeting will be moved to the start of the meeting, further increasing accessibility for residents.

This measure was approved by a 6-0 Town Board vote on January 7th.

“It is my belief that all residents deserve and are entitled to a seat at the table. We take input from our constituents seriously, and many had told us that having public comment following our meetings was inconvenient for them,” said Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “Moving the time for residents to speak to before the meetings will help us increase participation from the public.”

Beginning on January 28th, each board meeting will begin with 30 minutes of public comment starting at 7:30pm prior to the commencement of the night’s agenda. Individuals wishing to speak will be allotted a maximum of 3 minutes each. Any remaining comments and concerns will be heard at the end of the meeting.
