North Hempstead Recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting for 3rd Straight Year
North Hempstead, NY – The Town of North Hempstead was recognized, for a third consecutive year, by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada for its commitment to strong fiscal practices. The Town was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended 2012.
“It is an honor to be recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. This award shows how truly committed the Town is to remaining transparent in all aspects of its operations,” said Supervisor Bosworth. “The Certificate of Achievement confirms that the Town has met the high standards set forth for comprehensive annual financial reporting.”
The CAFR program encourages and assists government agencies to prepare financial reports of the highest quality for the benefit of citizens and other parties with a vital interest in government’s finances.
The Town was judged by an impartial panel and met the GFOA requirements in communicating and disclosing financial information. In earning this award, it signifies that the Town substantially conformed to the program’s extensive criteria and exceeds the minimum requirements of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
The GFOA of the United States and Canada is a non-profit professional association that serves approximately 17,500 government finance professionals.
