Manhasset Avenue Road Widening Project is Underway
New Turning Lane to be Created from Manhasset Avenue onto Plandome Road

North Hempstead, NY – Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Councilwoman Anna Kaplan joined with members of the Manhasset School Board on August 4th as construction continued on a new right-hand turning lane on Manhasset Avenue onto Plandome Road.

This project, which is part of the recently approved Town of North Hempstead Capital Plan, is designed to alleviate the traffic flow on Manhasset Avenue. It will allow those coming from Manhasset High School and the LIRR parking lots to turn right onto Plandome Road, which will help diminish the backup of cars on Manhasset Avenue. Nassau County will also be installing a new right turn signal on Manhasset Avenue.

“This is a perfect example of the community working together to complete a project that benefits our residents and children,” Supervisor Bosworth said. “I thank Manhasset School District and Nassau County as we continue to work together to create a safer North Hempstead for all of us.”

Councilwoman Kaplan, who spearheaded this project said, “I am pleased that we are able to calm the traffic flow, which will enhance safety for children and save time for commuters.”
