Carle Place, NY - Town of North Hempstead Business and Tourism Development Corporation will be sponsoring a forum for the Carle Place business community on Friday October 28 at 12:00pm. Among the topics to be discussed are options for streetscape improvements to ensure that the visioning process reflects the needs, concerns, and priorities of the business community. Additionally, options for grants and partnership with the Town in implementing improvements to both the streetscape and building facades will be discussed at this meeting.
“Through implementing a vision for an improved streetscape, the Town is looking to enhance the overall quality of life for Carle Place and facilitate business and economic development,” said Executive Director of North Hempstead Business & Tourism Development Corporation Leslie Gross. “We look forward to enhancing business and economic development in Carle Place.”
The Town of North Hempstead has initiated a visioning process for Westbury Avenue in Carle Place with the goals of increasing walk-ability and foot traffic as well as enhancing the aesthetic character of the area. Since last May, the Town has sponsored two visioning meetings with the entire Carle Placecommunity and several smaller meetings targeted toward the business community to gather input and foster participation in the planning process for streetscape improvements.
A unified theme is in the process of being developed to improve the aesthetic character of the area and upgrade the condition of the streets and sidewalks to reflect input expressed by over 500 participants in this visioning process. To achieve these goals, a streetscape improvement program may include new lighting, a facade improvement program, and installation of benches, trees, and sidewalk and curb replacements.
Business owners interested in attending the forum can call (516) 869-7691. Additional information about this exciting initiative can be found on the Town’s website: www.northhempsteadny.gov.
