Town of North Hempstead Honors Fallen NYPD Officers
Flags set at half-mast in memoriam

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth announced last week that all Town facilities would set their flags at half-mast in honor of the two New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers, Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos, who tragically lost their lives on December 20th.

The Town is following the lead of Governor Cuomo who directed on December 21st that flags on all state government buildings in New York City be set at half-mast. Town flags were set at half-mast early last week and will remain there through the funeral of Officer Liu on Saturday.

“This serves to remind all of us of the selfless service of Officers Liu and Ramos and how they courageously and heroically protected the residents of New York City each and every day,” Supervisor Bosworth said. “My thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and families of these officers and to the entire law enforcement community whose members continue to put their lives on the line for the safety of us all.”

The flag set at half-mast in front of Town Hall in Manhasset.
