Town to Save Time, Money and the Environment with New Vendor Payment Procedure
North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth announced this week that the Town of North Hempstead will begin allowing vendors to receive payments from the Town through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) which will speed payments for the services and supplies they provide to the Town. ACH payments are credited directly into vendors’ bank accounts and are available for immediate withdrawal.
In addition to the enhanced convenience for the Town’s nearly 400 vendors that are eligible, the new procedure will save the Town money on the purchase of envelopes, postage fees, paper checks, and on costly online wire payments. Town officials estimate a savings of approximately $26,000/year based on 100 vendors taking advantage of the program.
“The utilization of the Automated Clearing House is just another way the Town is embracing technology to boost efficiency and save taxpayer money,” Supervisor Bosworth said. “We are pleased to be able to offer this service to our vendors who provide the Town such important services.”
The ACH payment procedure will also require use of less paper which is an added benefit for the environment as well as enhancing productivity in the Town’s Comptroller’s office as less mailing and stuffing of envelopes will be required.
This program is slated to begin January 16th.
