Town of North Hempstead’s Recycled Artwork Contest Returns for 7th Year

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board would like to remind you that the submission deadline for the 7th Annual Recycled Artwork Contest is approaching soon!
The Recycled Artwork Contest is a chance for students to harness their creativity to promote recycling in our schools and local communities in an effort to better the environment. The Town invites young minds to come together and collaborate with one powerful message in mind: Recycle, Reuse, and Rethink.
The Recycled Artwork Contest is one of the highlights of our year, featuring hundreds of entries and thousands of participants. All students in grades K-12 in Town of North Hempstead School Districts or who live in the Town are welcome to participate in the contest. The opportunities are endless. Each student must use reclaimed, recyclable materials made of metals, paper, rubber, plastic or cloth (no glass). All artwork must be labeled and entered by November 30, 2015.
Entries will be judged by the North Hempstead Arts Advisory Committee. This year, the winners of the Recycled Artwork Contest will be honored at The Gold Coast Arts Center on Monday December 7th at a special ceremony at 6:00pm and all entries will be displayed from December 7, 2015 through January 1, 2016 in the gallery at The Gold Coast Arts Center.
Very important NEW details:
1. All artwork should be delivered directly to the The Gold Coast Arts Center, located at 113 Middle Neck Road, Great Neck, NY 11021. It must be accompanied by a release form; please call 311 for information.
2. All entries (Unless prior arrangements are made) become the property of The Town of North Hempstead.
3.Please make sure entries are limited in size to 60 inches in height by 30 inches tall. If you would like to propose a different size please contact the Office of Sustainability to discuss.
4.The annual “Trashion Show” which evolved as an offshoot of the art contest has blossomed into a huge success. Look for the information on this exciting event in the next few weeks!
