Town BTDC Announces Downtown Beautification Matching Grant Program
North Hempstead, NY – Town of North Hempstead Business and Tourism Development Corporation (BTDC) Chairwoman Judi Bosworth and Executive Director Kim Kaiman announced this week that the BTDC will be offering matching fund grant opportunities to not-for-profit organizations and business improvement districts to beautify downtowns.
The initiative, titled the Downtown Beautification Program, is designed to assist the Town’s chambers of commerce and civic associations in the revitalization of commercial and mixed use downtown districts. The program will make available matching fund grants of up to $10,000, per Councilmatic District, for eligible downtown beautification projects. Funds may be utilized for streetscape improvements such as tree planters and other landscaping, as well as street furniture, trash receptacles and signage.
“We want to work with our local businesses to make the downtown living and shopping experience the best it can be,” Chairwoman Bosworth said. “It is my hope that, through this program, we can beautify our commercial corridors and attract consumers to allow the businesses in our Town to thrive."
Executive Director Kaiman said, “We are thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to local organizations to help with streetscape enhancements.”
Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations (including but not limited to civic associations chambers of commerce and local development corporations) and business improvement districts. Eligible applicants must develop a detailed plan that must be submitted as part of the application process. Application deadline is November 30, 2015.
