Town Receives Grant to Install Radar Activated Speed Signs
Westbury, Williston Park & East Williston among areas to receive signs

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board are proud to announce that the Town will be purchasing approximately two dozen radar activated speed signs with a $100,000 grant from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. The grant was obtained with the assistance of New York State Senator Jack Martins.

“This grant provides us with the opportunity to install these speed signs which will help remind vehicles to slow down and to obey the speed limit. We hope that the new radar activated speed signs will encourage those taking to the roads to practice safe driving habits,” said Supervisor Bosworth.

Supervisor Bosworth and the Town’s Department of Highways and Public Safety along with Senator Martins are working to identify locations in the Town and incorporated villages where the signs would be the most useful. Westbury, Williston Park and East Williston are villages that have been selected at this time. Some of the radar activated speed signs will be permanently mounted to poles, while others will be on mobile trailers.
