Town of North Hempstead Completes 2nd Annual Veterans Donation Drive
More than 100 boxes of personal care items delivered to Northport VA

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town’s Veterans Advisory Committee delivered more than 100 boxes of personal care items, clothing and more, to the Northport Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center on December 19 as part of the 2nd Annual Town of North Hempstead Veterans Donation Drive. The drive was coordinated by the Supervisor’s Office and staff, who assisted in collecting the items starting in November. Town Clerk Wayne Wink, and Council members Peter Zuckerman and Anna Kaplan joined the Supervisor for the trip out to Northport to personally deliver the gifts to the veterans.

In addition to the donations made into the collection boxes placed throughout the Town, this year’s drive also received assistance from local Boy Scout troops, Great Neck/North Shore Public Access Television, St. Mary’s School in Manhasset, North Shore University hospital employees, and many more anonymous donors.

The Town’s Veterans Advisory Committee came up with the idea for a donation drive last year and this years was an even bigger success. Supervisor Bosworth said that this year donations nearly doubled from what they were a year ago.

Supervisor Bosworth expressed thanks to Deputy Chief of Staff Nick Guariglia, Assistant to the Supervisor Rob Cohen and Community Outreach Liaison Arthur Peltz for their assistance in coordinating the drive and transporting the more than 100 packages to the Northport VA’s Hospital.
