North Hempstead Hosts 4th Annual ‘Caps Back’ Contest

North Hempstead, NY – Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board are pleased to announce the 4th Annual ‘Caps Back’ Contest, a competition that challenges students throughout the Town to collect the most plastic bottle caps, which are usually not recyclable.

The Town of North Hempstead is proud to be the first municipality in the U.S. to partner with Estee Lauder’s Aveda Division on a recycling program for the plastic bottle caps. Using caps collected by students in North Hempstead, Aveda makes new caps to use on their products, preventing them from ending up littering our beaches and oceans.

Does your school have what it takes to be in the top spot? Show us! Ask your parents, teachers, family, and friends to give you caps and help your school win! The winning school will be determined based on the total weight of caps collected. The contest ends June 13, 2016. For more information, please call 311.
