Town Receives $175k State Grant for Clark Botanic Garden
North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Town Board are pleased to announce the Town’s Clark Botanic Garden in Albertson has been awarded a grant for $175,000 from the New York State Zoos, Botanic Gardens and Aquariums program which will be awarded in increments of $35,000 yearly until March 31, 2021.
“We are very pleased to be receiving this grant from the New York State ZBGA so we are able to continue to grow the offerings here at Clark Botanic Garden,” Supervisor Bosworth said. “This grant will allow us to complete a wide variety of valuable projects to enrich the experience and educational value of the Garden for our residents.”
“Clark Botanic Garden continues to blossom into one of the most beautiful botanic gardens in the entire state,” said Council Member Peter Zuckerman. “With this funding we are only limited by our imagination.”
The grant will be used towards enhancing the educational purpose and functionality of the garden. Projects include, improving the condition of the ponds by installing aerators, installing air conditioning at the Clark House to increase the number of days the building is used, fixing the park paths for better access and developing a sensory garden.
Clark Botanic Garden is located at 193 IU Willets Road, Albertson.
