Town to Host Composting Classes with Girl Scout Troop 1447

North Hempstead, NY – Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board along with Girl Scouts Troop 1447 will be hosting two composting classes on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., during a composting teach-and-learn event.

The Composting Cooperative program is a 30-minute instructional class and, upon completion, residents can purchase a composter at the reduced rate of $50. By using a composter, residents can create organic material for their soil by reusing kitchen waste that would ordinarily end up in landfills. The Town will be hosting two classes open to all North Hempstead Residents.

All classes are held at Clark Botanic Garden, located at 193 I. U. Willets Road in Albertson, and are rain or shine. Residents must register in advance by calling 311.
Girl Scouts of Nassau County strive to build courage, confidence and character. Junior Troop 1447, consists of Girl Scouts from Mineola, Carle Place and Garden City.

For more information or to register call 311 or 516-869-6311.

Serving over 222,000 people, the Town of North Hempstead’s governing body is headed by the Town Supervisor, Judi Bosworth and six Town Board members: Viviana L. Russell, Peter J. Zuckerman, Angelo P. Ferrara, Anna M. Kaplan, Lee R. Seeman and Dina M. De Giorgio. The Town Clerk is Wayne Wink and the Receiver of Taxes is Charles Berman.
