North Hempstead Announces the 2007 May W. Newburger Women’s Roll of Honor
New Hyde Park, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Town Clerk Michelle Schimel are pleased to announce the honorees for the 2007 May W. Newburger Women’s Roll of Honor. The women selected this year represent both public and quiet contributions to the various communities throughout North Hempstead.
“Each year our breakfast celebrates the many women who have enriched our community,” said Town Clerk Michelle Schimel, chairperson of the event. This year the breakfast will reflect on the words of Susan B. Anthony, “For a people is only as great, as free, as lofty, as advanced as its women are free, noble and progressive.”
We are honored to have Rajinderjit K. Singh as our guest speaker. Ms. Singh is a retired Locust Valley teacher and co-founder of the Long Island Multi-Faith Forum who represents North America on the board of the World Council of Religions for Peace.
The Women’s Roll of Honor Breakfast will be held on Thursday, March 22, from 8:00 am to 10:00 am at Clinton G. Martin Park in New Hyde Park. A featured highlight of the breakfast will be a poetry reading by Shirley Romaine who has delighted our breakfast audiences since its inception in 1994.
