Town of North Hempstead Partners with Long Island Nets and United Way of Long Island to Stuff-A-Bus with School Supplies

North Hempstead, NY – Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board are partnering with the Long Island Nets and United Way of Long Island’s for the 11th annual Stuff-A-Bus campaign which collects back to school supplies for low income families throughout Nassau County. Stuff-A-Bus hopes to gather thousands of supplies in order to help students excel in the 2019/2020 school year. The Town of North Hempstead will be collecting supplies to distribute to Park Avenue School in Westbury.

“We are so pleased to be joining with the Long Island Nets and the United Way to help some of our local children get a good start this year when school begins,” said Supervisor Bosworth, who herself is a former second grade teacher. “I think it gives a child a feeling of confidence and a fresh start when he or she can head off to school with a book bag filled with supplies. I hope everyone will donate what they can to the school supply drive. I know it will be greatly appreciated by children and their parents.”

The Long island Nets G League calls the Town’s “Yes We Can” Community Center in Westbury their practice facility.

In the past two years Long Island Nets have provided almost 350,000 school supplies to 13,000 students across Nassau County. Now through August 30th there will be drop off locations at various locations throughout Nassau County.
