North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board announce the release of the latest Back to the Garden episode, which takes a look at some of the best plants to grow on Long Island. These Gold Medal Award-Winning plants are selected by Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) and a panel of Master Gardeners, horticulturists and landscapers for their ability to thrive on Long Island.

Cornell University Cooperative Extension of Nassau County will be hosting tours of their arboretum and Gold Medal Plant gardens on Saturday August 17, from 10 a.m. to Noon. Cooperative Extension aims to educated the public on home horticulture; food and nutrition; energy efficiency; and sustainable natural resources in order to benefit the lives and communities nearby.

Take the day to learn about plants that would thrive in your garden. The tours will be 30-45 mins long led by their master gardens. During the tour visitors will see a variety of trees, shrubs, perennials, vines, groundcovers, and grasses which grow best on Long Island.
