Supervisor Bosworth & Council Member Lurvey Announce Extension of Plandome Road Parking Limits
North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth, Council Member Veronica Lurvey and the Town Board recently voted to extend the parking restrictions on Plandome Road in Manhasset from 1 hour to 2 hours. Council Member Lurvey has been working with the Manhasset Chamber of Commerce to make it easier for businesses in Manhasset to attract customers. The Chamber requested a change in the parking restrictions to give residents more time to shop and do business along Plandome Road.
“It is important to me that I continue to work with the Manhasset Chamber of Commerce to continue their efforts to encourage shoppers to shop along Plandome Road,” said Council Member Lurvey. “Changing the parking restrictions is a small but important step in determining what will work. Ultimately we all want to see our downtowns flourish, as this benefits not only our businesses, but also the character and quality of our communities.”
Stephanie Solomon, co-president of the Manhasset Chamber of Commerce said “By increasing the parking limit on Plandome Road to two hours, customers will be able to take advantage of more than one store. The Manhasset Chamber of Commerce is working with the Manhasset Park District to help educate the merchants as to the options and availability of employee parking and the ability to share employee spots among more than one employee.”
While the time change will go into effect immediately, the 1 hour limit will remain until the signs have been replaced by the Town’s Highway Department.
