Council Member Lurvey Wins by 63% in 4th District Race
North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Council Member Veronica Lurvey, who had been appointed to the vacated 4th Council District seat in January, won a convincing victory over her opponent in the November 5 election, with 2,719 ballots cast in her favor, or 63% of the vote.
“It is an honor to receive a vote of confidence from the constituents of the 4th District,” said Council Member Lurvey. “I have listened to their concerns and tried to make some strides this past year to address those concerns. I will continue to advocate for the needs of every resident and support efforts to take care of our community now and for future generations.”
Other winners on the Town of North Hempstead ballot included a 67% win by Supervisor Judi Bosworth over her opponent; a 62% win by Council Member Peter Zuckerman for his second full term to represent the 2nd Council District; and 65% victory for Tax Receiver Charles Berman. Newcomer Mariann Dalimonte was victorious with 58% of the vote in the 6th Council District over that seat’s incumbent. Council Member-Elect Dalimonte will take office on January 1, 2020
A swearing in ceremony will take on Sunday, January 5 at the Clinton G. Martin Park auditorium.
Council Member Lurvey, a daughter of immigrants, is a former corporate lawyer and activist. She lives in Great Neck with her husband Jonathan and their two teenage sons.
