Tax Receiver Charles Berman Re-Elected with 65% of vote

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Tax Receiver Charles Berman was re-elected on November 5 to another four-year term with 21,251 votes, or a 65% margin of victory over his opponent.

“It is an honor to once again serve the Town’s residents with excellent customer service, prompt answers to their questions and information on lowering their tax payments,” said Tax Receiver Berman. “It is a priority for me and my office to make the tax-payment process as convenient as possible. I look forward to continuing to work together with Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town’s Council members to ensure that the Town of North Hempstead remains one of the best places to live.”

Tax Receiver Berman was elected the Town of North Hempstead’s Receiver of Taxes in November 2015 and 2011, after an appointment to the position in January 2010 and a win in a special election in November 2010. He also served as Acting Receiver of Taxes in 2003, serving from August through the end of that year. His career in public service began when he was appointed Deputy Town Clerk of the Town of Oyster Bay in 2000. Tax Receiver Berman was appointed in 2004 to serve as Assistant to the Chairman of the Nassau County Board of Assessors and he served until 2009.

A swearing in ceremony will take on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at the Clinton G. Martin Park auditorium.
