North Hempstead Facilities to Remain Temporarily Closed

North Hempstead, NY - In the interest of preventing the spread of coronavirus, North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth has extended the declaration of the state of emergency. All Town facilities will continue to remain closed to the public until at least Tuesday, May 12. While all Town buildings and parks are currently closed to the public, essential services are continuing to operate as the Town maintains the continuity of government with many of its employees working remotely. Please note that the Town's 311 Call Center remains open to callers seven days a week.

As the Town continues to navigate through this public health emergency, all Town parks including playgrounds, sports fields, and bathrooms will remain closed to the public. This also includes Town beaches and the Town Dock.

The extension was necessary due to the unfortunate, continuing spread of coronavirus in our community. This declaration allows us the Town to implement public safety measures, purchase essential items and services quickly, and respond to emergency needs.

The Town also extends its sincerest appreciation to everyone on the front lines including medical professionals, first responders, and essential employees.

On behalf of local fire departments, the Town wants to remind residents who suspect that they have COVID-19 to avoid calling 911 or going to the hospital unless their symptoms are severe. If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to schedule an appointment to be tested, please contact your healthcare provider or the New York State coronavirus hotline at 1-888-364-3065. The Town also encourages residents to check in any neighbors who they believe may be vulnerable or are not receiving notifications and updates.
