Town Announces New At-Home Virtual Hangout Series for Kids

North Hempstead, NY - North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board are excited to announce that the Town’s departments of Community Services and Parks and Recreation will be offering new and innovative remote programming for residents. The offerings will include targeted programs for children and seniors along with entertainment for residents of all ages. The new shows will begin airing on Monday, May 18.

“We have adapted our recreational offerings during these unprecedented times to present fun and interactive programs for kids to enjoy in the comfort of their own homes,” said Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “We wanted to be able to offer programs that the Town normally hosts, but in a virtual setting so everyone can still participate. This ensures that we can do our part in helping to keep our residents safe and allow them to watch and learn something new at the same time. These specialized shows bring the energy and excitement that the children of North Hempstead have come to expect from our recreational activities.”

Programming highlights include basketball and football skills classes, kids dance parties, National Circus project workshops, and a reptile show featuring Erik the Reptile Guy.

This new programming is in addition to the senior fitness and yoga classes that the Town is already airing. New episodes debut on Mondays at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., with many of the classes happening at the same time as they would in-person.

In addition to appearing on the Town's social media channels, all programs are broadcast on the Town’s award winning public access television station, North Hempstead TV (NHTV). Residents will be able to watch the programs on channel 18 or 63 on Cablevision and channel 46 on Verizon FIOS.

The following live programs will be airing on the Town's social channels for the first week:
Monday – Starting 2 p.m.
Erik The Reptile Guys
Meditation with Rebecca

Wednesday – Starting 2 p.m.
Interactive Concert with Lee Knight
Clark Garden Virtual Tour

Friday – Starting 2 p.m.
Ken McGorry Concert
