Add Some Love to Your Home by Adopting a Dog from the Town’s Animal Shelter

North Hempstead, NY - Each month North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board feature several dogs who are up for adoption at the Town’s Animal Shelter. This month’s featured pups include Shadow and Emma.

Currently, visits to the shelter will be made by appointment only. Appointments to visit the shelter can be made by calling 311. All visitors must adhere to proper social distancing guidelines and wear a mask.

Shadow is a 6 year old Jindo mix with an adventurous spirit! He loves to go for long walks on the trail and play with tennis balls. Shadow enjoys being around his human companions and likes all people he meets, but can be independent and have a bit of a “cat-like” personality sometimes. Shadow also likes to play with dogs that are about his own size. Shadow would do best in a home without small children and other small pets.

Emma is a very sweet girl that enjoys being with people, and our handlers enjoy working with her. This smart, friendly girl knows her basic commands, loves long walks on our nature trail, agility activities, petting and, of course, treats! Emma loves all people she meets but she wants to be the one and only pet in the family.
