North Hempstead Announces 2008
May W. Newburger Women’s Roll of Honor
Manhasset, N.Y. – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Town Clerk Leslie Gross are pleased to announce the honorees for the 2008 May W. Newburger Women’s Roll of Honor.
Citing the strength and service of Eleanor Roosevelt as the inspiration for this year’s breakfast, event chairperson Leslie Gross recalls Ms. Roosevelt’s words: “ I could not at any age be content to take my place in a corner by the fireside and simply look on. ” “Once again we will celebrate the extraordinary women whose commitment to North Hempstead has made it a wonderful place to live,” said Ms. Gross.
“I am pleased to announce that we are adding another group of outstanding women to our Women’s Roll of Honor,” said Supervisor Kaiman. “I invite all Town residents to help us honor the women who have made a continuing difference in the Town.
Since 1994, North Hempstead has held a Women’s History Month Breakfast to honor women who have made a contribution to their community, possess a special personal talent, or have accomplished a significant achievement through public or quiet work.
“Please join us as a guest at this year’s breakfast,” said Leslie Gross. “It’s on Thursday, March 27, from 8:00 am to 10:00 am at Clinton G. Martin Park in New Hyde Park. No reservation is necessary and admission is free.”
