Town of North Hempstead Joins with Residents to Combat Hate
Launches initiative to distribute free “Not In Our Town” signs

North Hempstead, NY – Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth, the Town Board and North Hempstead’s Asian American Advisory Committee have announced that the Town will be distributing free “Not In Our Town” lawn signs for residents in North Hempstead. The signs will be available at facilities across the Town.

“With input from our residents, we put a new spin on North Hempstead's ‘Not In Our Town’ initiative by creating signs that feature a message of unity in different languages," said Supervisor Judi Bosworth. "We believe that these lawn signs are a small way to bring everyone together and show that we can join to stop hate together. North Hempstead is an extremely diverse and welcoming community, and we are proud to celebrate all that makes us unique and special."

The Town joined with its Asian American Advisory Committee to develop the signs. They were designed to help increase the dialogue with the community in an effort to promote kindness and compassion.

The lawn signs feature the “Not In Our Town” initiative and messages to stop hate in: Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and Thai.

The signs will be available for pick up at the front desk at the following locations:
North Hempstead Town Hall – Monday to Friday: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – 220 Plandome Road, Manhasset
