National Night Out in Westbury to Kick Off with Parade on August 3

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth, Council Member Viviana Russell and Nassau County Legislator Siela Bynoe, invite members of the community to celebrate “National Night Out 2021,” an opportunity to build a neighborhood, police and government partnership. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, August 3, assembly for the parade starts at 5 p.m., and marching begins at 5:30 p.m.

This year’s corporate sponsors include Target, Pepsi Cola Bottling Company, PepsiCo Foundation, North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center, and DPR Scrap Metal with event support from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Pi Pi Omega Chapter, Westbury/New Cassel NAACP and the Salvation Army Westbury Corps Community Center.

“It is so important that we work to foster unity in the community, and that’s exactly what National Night Out does,” said Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “This annual event focuses on neighborhood anti-crime efforts and drug-prevention awareness while also building better stronger relationships between police and the community. After last year’s virtual program, we are very much looking forward to the return of an in-person National Night Out.”

National Night Out is an annual community-building event that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, caring places to live. The event will feature music, singing, dancing, health care services providers, crime prevention information, education resources, cultural entertainment, refreshments, arts & crafts, raffles, games, health screenings, giveaways, and more.

“If this last year has taught us anything, it has taught us all, as a community that we stand stronger together,” said Council Member Russell. “That is the purpose of National Night Out. Creating a stronger relationship between underserved communities and the officers charged with the task of serving and protecting them. This year’s National Night Out serves as a symbol of continued efforts and intentional steps moving in the direction of fostering positive community and law enforcement relations.”

The event kicks off with a parade and festivities begin at 6 p.m. at Martin “Bunky” Reid Park, located at Broadway and Swalm Street in Westbury.
