North Hempstead Lauds Contributions from Members of the Senior Community
New Hyde Park, NY — Supervisor Jon Kaiman and the North Hempstead Town Board honored members of the Senior Community for their exemplary civic engagement and noteworthy contributions, during the 36th annual Senior Recognition event at the New Hyde Park Inn. The 37 seniors honored at this year’s event were met by elected officials from the state, county and town and were each presented with a framed certificate signed Supervisor Kaiman and other elected officials.
“We honor these members of the senior community for leaving North Hempstead and Long Island better than they found it,” said Supervisor Jon Kaiman. “The Town admires and respects these seniors who have unselfishly contributed to the betterment of their local communities.”
North Hempstead continues to recognize and support senior citizens for years of noteworthy achievements, energy and priceless contributions, through a variety of governmental initiatives, most notably Project Independence, a program designed to help seniors remain living in their homes and active in their communities longer.
The 36th annual Senior Recognition event coincided with Older American Recognition month, which is celebrated in May.
