Town Announces Fall S.T.O.P. Date
Port Washington, NY – Keeping the Town of North Hempstead green is one of the principal focus outlined in Supervisor Jon Kaiman’s January 2008 State of the Town address. Since then the town has added numerous green initiatives, including a comprehensive recycling program to the mix of existing programs designed to keep North Hempstead green.
One of them, the STOP (Stop Throwing Out Pollutants) program, provides residents the opportunity to conveniently dispose of hazardous household waste in an environmentally friendly manner in the spring, summer, fall and winter.
The fall date and location for disposing of pollutants such as paints, aerosol cans and cleaners, which can be corrosive, explosive and toxic is Saturday Sept. 6 at Michael J. Tully Park, 1801 Evergreen Ave., in New Hyde Park. Drop off hours are from 9:30 a.m. 3:00 p.m.
