North Hempstead Announces 2009
May W. Newburger Women’s Roll of Honor
Manhasset, N.Y. – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Town Clerk Leslie Gross are pleased to announce the honorees for the 2009 May W. Newburger Women’s Roll of Honor.
Event chairperson Leslie Gross was inspired for this year's breakfast by Marilee Karl, women's rights activist and co-founder of Isis International which has supported tens of thousands of women around the world in community action. In Ms. Karl's words: "Across the world women are joining hands in solidarity and support…empowering themselves to build a peaceful and fairer world." According to Ms. Gross, "Once again we will celebrate the extraordinary women in our part of the world – North Hempstead's 2009 Honorees.
“I am pleased to announce that we are adding another group of outstanding women to our Women’s Roll of Honor,” said Supervisor Kaiman. “I invite all Town residents to help us honor the women who have made a continuing difference in the Town.
Since 1994, North Hempstead has held a Women’s History Month Breakfast to honor women who have made a contribution to their community, possess a special personal talent, or have accomplished a significant achievement through public or quiet work.
“Please join us as a guest at this year’s breakfast,” said Leslie Gross. “It’s on Thursday, March 19, 2009, from 8:00 am to 10:00 am at the Clubhouse at Harbor Links in Port Washington. No reservation is necessary and admission is free.”
