Delux Announces Environmentally Friendly Taxicabs
Town Officials Welcome New Fleet of Natural Gas Taxicabs
Manhasset, NY –Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Town Clerk Michelle Schimel welcomed the arrival of 15 clean-fuel taxicabs to North Hempstead. Delux Transportation Service of Port Washington, Manhasset and Roslyn purchased the new cabs, which are powered by compressed natural gas, as part of an environmental initiative to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and improve air quality.
"These cabs provide a safe and environmentally friendly alternative," said Town Clerk Schimel.
Andrea Majer, Delux Executive Vice President added that, "Delux is proud to be on the leading edge of alternative fuel use, decreasing dependence on foreign oil and reducing emissions and pollutants into the atmosphere."
Delux plans to use the new fleet of Ford Crown Victoria cabs to carry customers throughout Nassau County.
