North Hempstead Announces New 2010 Schedule for Popular Senior Program

Port Washington, NYSupervisor Jon Kaiman and the North Hempstead Town Board announced the 2010 schedule for the ultra-popular free senior program, Funday Monday, held at North Hempstead Beach Park.  Drawing hundreds of seniors every Monday from 10:00am to 2:00am, Funday Monday offers live music, entertainment, dancing, card-playing, and a chance to renew old acquaintances all while enjoying the sights and sounds of the Town beach.

“Funday Monday is a great opportunity for our seniors to enjoy a relaxing afternoon at North Hempstead Beach Park,” said Supervisor Jon Kaiman.  “We have arranged fun-filled activities every Monday as well as free transportation.  Seniors can simply call 311 to arrange transportation and for more details on the program.”

North Hempstead’s Department of Community Services released the following schedule for all Funday Monday Events:

July 19, is “Grab Your Partner and Dosido” day. Seniors can brush up on square dancing and join the others for a HoDown, with the sound of Mellowtones.

July 26 is, “Hawaiian Luau” day. 
You “Just Can’t Help Falling in Love” with Elvis as he takes us to beautiful “Blue Hawaii.”  

August 2 is “Funday Fiesta”
day.  Seniors dance Tango, Meringue, Cha-cha and more! Let the Triple Fiesta Combo’s catchy rhythms and 3-part vocal harmonies transport you to the exotic shores of Latin America.

August 9, is “Health Day”. 
August 9 isHealth Day”.  Button Up Your Overcoat” and don’t worry about catching rockin' Pneumonia or the Boogie Woogie Flu.  D.J. Kev will entertain you while as you enjoy our Health and Information Fair.

August 16, is “Happy Days Sock Hop” day. You don’t need “Blue Suede Shoes” to “Be-Bop-A-Lula” with us.  Just put on your poodle skirt, polish up your penny loafers and come “Rock Around the Clock” with the Vic Vincent Group. 

August 23, is “Saturday Night Fever”. Do you have “Saturday Night Fever?”  Then “You Should Be Dancing.” No time for “Jive Talkin.” Just put on your “Boogie Shoes” and come spend the afternoon with John Travolta.

August 30, is “Americana”.  Don’t miss the wearing of ol’ red, white and blue.  Join us for a celebration of Americana traditions, with a special tribute to our Armed Forces.
