Grand Opening of the New North Hempstead Aquatic Activity Center at Tully Park
Officials Announce Free Swim Period for Rest of October

North Hempstead, NY--Joining with the members of the North Hempstead Town Board, Supervisor Jon Kaiman proudly announced the details of a much-anticipated event—the grand reopening of the North Hempstead Aquatic Activity Center at Tully Park.

“This administration takes great pride in pursuing ways to enhance the quality of life for Town of North Hempstead residents,” Supervisor Jon Kaiman said. “The top-to-bottom reconstruction of this popular pool facility is just one example of our ongoing commitment to fulfill this goal.”

Renamed the North Hempstead Aquatic Activity Center at Tully Park, the 30,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art, facility celebrates its grand re-opening on Saturday Oct. 9. Starting at 11:00am, the day-long ribbon cutting ceremony will include a pool party with food, music and giveaways. KJOY radio station will be on hand as well.

The grand opening pool party will be followed by a free swim period for the rest of October.

The reconstruction boasts an array of exciting features. The pool area, for example, is equipped with a figure eight slide and three separate zones: an interactive area with six water features, a zone with six lanes for lap swimming and a zero-depth entry zone for wading. A pool lift is also available.

Located on the pool level, the exercise room—three times the size of the old one—has a wall of windows overlooking the pool. New spin cycles compliment the wide selection of exercise equipment.

The new facility now also feature a ‘family’ restroom and changing room, eliminating the need for parents to send their young children unaccompanied into the common shower/restroom area.

A new multi-use room overlooking the pool provides additional space for parties and meetings. The new main floor party room now features an enclosed patio, doubling the space for parties, meetings and celebrations.

Extensive rebuilding of the facility also includes upgrades of support infrastructure including water supply, wastewater discharge, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. New windows and skylights have been installed throughout the building, and a new fire alarm and sprinkler system has been installed.
