North Hempstead Receiver to Residents: Notify Tax Office Billing Changes

North Hempstead, NY—North Hempstead Receiver Charles Berman issued a helpful recommendation today, urging residents to notify his office in writing when their mortgage has been satisfied. Receiver Berman notes that there is often a delay before lending institutions notify his office that taxes will no longer be paid through mortgage escrow accounts.

Receiver Berman also recommends that residents notify his office about billing-address changes, property purchases, or the sale of property.

The Receiver can be reached by mail at 200 Plandome Road, Manhasset NY 11030. Correspondence can also be sent to tax@northhempsteadny.gov. For further information, residents can visit the Tax Department’s webpage at www.northhempsteadny.gov.

After being appointed to his second stint as interim Receiver of Taxes in 2009, Charles Berman was elected North Hempstead’s Receiver in November of 2010. Berman has modernized the Tax Receivers office in this short time by linking the department to the 311 Call Center database, significantly increasing response time and improving efficiency of the Tax Dept. Berman also initiated a make-over of the Tax Dept. website and personally created four essential guides to tax exemptions and other useful potentially tax saving information, all of which are available to residents online.
