North Hempstead Hosts Special E-Waste Drop-off Event at Great Neck North High School
Great Neck, NY
—
Continuing to pursue his commitment to promote environmental awareness, Supervisor Jon Kaiman and the North Hempstead Town Board, in partnership with Great Neck North High School, announce a special Electronic Waste Drop-Off Event on Wednesday, May 25.
The event, which takes place at the Parkwood parking lot on Arrandale Avenue in Great Neck, from 8:00am until 2:00pm, is one of an occasional e-waste event held in collaboration with schools participating in North Hempstead’s Comprehensive Recycling Partnership Program.
“By having an event such as this, students and their families can learn more about recycling e-waste and allow for the Great Neck community to come together as a whole to do something positive for our environment,” Supervisor Jon Kaiman said. “We are committed to keeping our Town safe and free of harmful toxins.”
Improperly disposed of electronic products, which contain lead, mercury and arsenic among other toxins, could contaminate underground aquifers, Long Island’s primary source of drinking water.
Residents are urged to attend the Great Neck e-waste Drop-Off next Wednesday. In addition, they should also be aware that they can drop off their electronic waste every week from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm at the Town’s Solid Waste Management site located at 999 West Shore Road in Roslyn.
