Town Announces Third Recycled Artwork Contest
North Hempstead, NY— As part of North Hempstead’s School Recycling Partnership Program, students in Roslyn, East Williston and Herricks once again have the opportunity to enter into the town’s third annual Recycled Artwork Contest announced Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Councilman Tom Dwyer. The winner’s artistic abilities will be showcased from December 8th through January 9th 2012 in the gallery at the Great Neck Arts Center.
“It is always exciting to see what our Roslyn, East Williston and Herricks schools come up with for this project,” said Councilman Tom Dwyer. “We thank the students and teachers for participating in this contest as well as the Superintendents of each of those outstanding school districts.”
The Recycled Art Contest is one of the highlights of the year. Last year, North Hempstead had over 1300 students participating and with the help of Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel, the Town was able to take the exhibit to the NYS Capital in Albany.
Entries must use either recycled materials or materials that can be recycled including metals, paper, rubber, plastic or cloth. Town officials note that no glass is to be used in elementary schools. The contest is open to all participating Town of North Hempstead School Recycling Partnership Program school districts.
