North Hempstead’s Beachfront Bash, FamilyFest, Promises to Wind Down Town’s Festival Season with a Blast!
North Hempstead, NY– With the dog days of summer upon us, Supervisor Jon Kaiman, the North Hempstead Town Board, and the Town’s Business and Tourism Development Corp., announced details of North Hempstead’s annual end-of-summer, beachfront gala - FamilyFest 2012.
An entertaining festival of music, food, and plenty of fun activities, the 8th Annual FamilyFest takes place on September 9th at North Hempstead Beach Park. It runs from 12:00pm to 5:30pm.
“As the summer season comes to an end, I urge residents to take advantage of one last opportunity to spend a festive day at one of North Hempstead’s pristine Town beaches,” said Supervisor Kaiman. “Without a doubt, this promises to live up to its reputation as the best end-of-summer event anywhere.”
FamilyFest offers family-fun activities such as kayaking, face painting, a petting zoo, kite flying, the New York Knicks Basketball Groove Truck featuring skill competitions, video game tournaments, and much more.
This year, FamilyFest revelers will be entertained by four sensational bands. The Fabulous Motown Revue will kick off the musical entertainment with a foot-stomping presentation of Motown anthems. Cold Spring Harbor will follow, keeping the audience singing along with an interactive Billy Joel tribute. After that, Almost Queen will then take the stage with a tribute to British rock band Queen. Bringing down the curtains on the musical presentation will be Total Soul, an exciting dance band, which will be sure to have everyone in the audience on their feet.
The 2012 FamilyFest is brought to residents by the Town of North Hempstead in partnership with the Town’s Business and Tourism Development Corporation (BTDC), the Department of Parks and Recreation, and a generous host of corporate sponsors including Wells Fargo Bank, CitiBank, Panera Bread, Kiss Products, Optimum, Signature Bank, and Lowes Home Improvement.
The event is free, but a $5 per vehicle parking fee will be charged.
